Why PolicyVera

๐Ÿ†“

Free forever

PolicyVera is free for consumers. No fees, no subscriptions, no upsells. Insurance agents pay us. You never do.

๐Ÿ”’

Your data is yours

Encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell your data. Agents only see information you've shared with them.

๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Local by design

Local agents, local platform, local support. Designed around local insurance markets and regulations.

Step 1

โœจ Create your business account

โฑ 1 minute
1

Register at policyvera.com/business/register

Enter your name, business email, and a password, and accept the terms. Use an email you check often. Quote notifications land there.

2

Verify your email

Enter the 6-digit code from noreply@policyvera.com. If you don't see it, check spam.

Step 2

๐Ÿšช Answer two quick questions

โฑ 1 minute
1

Describe what your business does

One or two plain sentences. Your agent reads this exactly as you write it. It also picks the right question set for your industry (landscaping, food service, construction, trucking, professional services, retail, and more).

2

Tell us about your current insurance

Three cards: you have your policy documents handy, you have coverage but not the papers, or this is your first business policy. First-timers skip the prior-policy questions entirely. Nothing to upload, no trick questions.

3

Or just drop your documents

If you picked 'documents handy', a dropzone appears right there. Already have a profile? An 'Upload policy' button sits on the Business Information step when you open it, on Commercial Auto and Workers' Comp where the typing is heaviest, and the full dropzone lives on the Insurance History step.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: PDF or photos: dec pages, loss runs, ACORD apps. Our AI sorts and reads each one.

Step 3

๐Ÿข Build your business profile

Fill it out once. Reuse it every time you shop. Just update what's changed.

โฑ 5โ€“10 minutes
1

Step 1: Business basics

Legal name, state, address, and the identity facts every carrier asks for (entity type, FEIN, NAICS code if you know it (the NAICS also tailors your questions).

2

Step 2: Operations

What your business does, in your industry's own terms: services you perform, work mix, states you operate in. This step is optional but drives the most accurate quotes.

3

Uploaded a policy? Watch the fields fill

The scan fills empty fields, pre-selects the coverage lines found on your policy, and marks a few values for your check. Anything you typed yourself is never overwritten.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: The fill report tells you exactly what was filled, what needs your eyes, and what was kept.

Step 4

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Pick your coverage and start date

โฑ 2 minutes
1

Tell agents when you need coverage to start

Your best estimate. Your agent can adjust the exact date before quoting.

2

Pick your lines

Twelve to choose from: General Liability, Property, Commercial Auto, Workers' Comp, Umbrella, EPLI, Pollution, Professional Liability (E&O), Cyber, Tools & Equipment, Liquor Liability, and Cargo & Physical Damage. The profile only asks the details that apply to what you pick.

3

Cards speak your trade

A landscaper's Tools & Equipment card talks about mowers and trailers; a restaurant's Liquor card notes your alcohol answers carry over. Same facts, your language.

Step 5

๐Ÿ“‹ Details, prior coverage, and claims

โฑ 5 minutes
1

One screen at a time

The Details step walks payroll and each selected line one sub-screen at a time. No wall of fields. Questions you already answered on Operations are never asked twice.

2

Prior policies and claims

The Insurance History step holds your uploaded documents, prior policies (recorded automatically from scanned dec pages), and your claims from the last 5 years: year, type, approximate amount, what happened.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: Agents see claims on your loss runs anyway. Listing them up front means fewer follow-up calls.

Step 6

๐Ÿ“จ Send it to agents you choose

โฑ 1 minute
1

Pick who receives it

On the Review step, choose the licensed agents you want quoting. Nothing is sent to anyone until you click send.

2

Review and send

The review sheet shows your business name, the lines you're requesting, and the agents you picked. Your profile (business name, operations, and coverage details) goes to those agents so they can quote without calling you with basic questions.

Step 7

โœ… Quotes, messages, and your bound policy

โฑ Hours to days
1

Quotes arrive on your Submissions page

Each agent's quotes appear side by side (premium, term, deductible, limits, effective date) with email notifications as they land.

2

Message agents right on the request

Questions about a quote? The thread lives on the submission. Messages notify both sides.

3

Accept, and your agent takes it from there

Accepting lets that agent finalize coverage with you directly. PolicyVera never binds policies. Your licensed agent does.

4

Bound documents land on your Policies page

When your agent binds and uploads the policy, it shows on your Policies page and you're notified. As expiration approaches, PolicyVera reminds you, so renewal shopping starts from your real, current details.

Common questions

Is PolicyVera free for my business?โ–พ

Yes. Creating an account, building your profile, requesting quotes, and storing documents are free. Agents pay platform fees to use PolicyVera. Businesses never do.

What if I don't have my policy documents?โ–พ

Skip the upload. The profile works fine typed. First business policy ever? Say so on the two quick questions and the prior-policy questions disappear entirely.

Who sees my business information?โ–พ

Only the agents you choose when you send your submission. Your profile goes to them with your business name and coverage details so they can quote without basic-questions phone calls. Nothing is sent until you click send.

Can I update my profile after sending it?โ–พ

Your profile stays yours to edit. Update what's changed and it's ready for your next shopping round. Questions about an open submission? Message the agent right on the request.

My industry has specific questions. Will agents still call me?โ–พ

The profile asks your industry's own question set (a restaurant's kitchen and alcohol facts, a contractor's work mix and subcontractors, a trucker's radius and cargo). The goal is a submission complete enough to quote without a call, and your claims list and prior policies ride along too.

Does PolicyVera give insurance advice?โ–พ

No. PolicyVera is a platform that connects you with licensed agents. Your agent provides the advice and is the one licensed to sell your business a policy.
