Welcome! This is a step-by-step guide for first-time users. From signing up to having every insurance policy you own organized in one place — about 10 minutes of setup, then PolicyVera works in the background forever.

Step 1

Visit policyvera.com

Click 'Get Started' or use the link your lender, agent, or friend shared with you. If you came from a lender's link, you'll see a welcome page branded with their name — that's normal.

Enter your name, email, and password

Use an email you check often — we'll send you quote notifications here. Pick a strong password (at least 8 characters).

Verify your email

Check your inbox for a 6-digit code from PolicyVera. Enter it on the verification page. If you don't see it, check spam — emails come from noreply@policyvera.com.

💡 Tip: The code expires in 15 minutes. If it expires, just request a new one.

Step 2

👤 Set up your insurance profile

This is the only setup step that matters. Take your time here.

Go to your Profile

After login you land on your dashboard at /client. Click 'Profile' or 'Insurance Profile' in the menu — it'll walk you through 4 quick steps.

Step 1 — Basic Info

Full name, date of birth, primary address (where you live now or the new home you're moving into), and contact info. If you've moved within the last 3 years, you can also add your previous address — some insurance carriers ask for it.

Step 2 — Driver Info

Your driver's license number and the state it was issued. This is required for auto insurance quotes. If you're only shopping for homeowners or renters insurance, you can still fill this in — agents may ask.

Step 3 — Household Members

Add anyone in your household who drives (spouse, kids over 16, others). For each: name, date of birth, relationship, and driver's license info if applicable. Skip this section if it's just you.

Step 4 — Policies

If you already have insurance documents (current policies, dec pages, ID cards), drop them here. PolicyVera will keep them organized. If you DON'T have any (first-time home buyer, new driver, etc.), skip this step — you can still get quotes.

💡 Tip: PolicyVera reads your uploaded documents with AI to auto-fill carrier name, premium, coverage limits, and dates — so agents see your current coverage and can quote competitively.

Step 3

📨 Request quotes from agents

Go to the Shop page

Click 'Shop' or 'Get Quotes' from your dashboard. This is where you tell agents what kind of insurance you need.

Pick what you need quoted

Select all that apply: Auto, Home, Renters, Life, etc. You can request quotes for multiple lines at once.

Choose agents

PolicyVera can either auto-match you to verified Idaho agents based on your address and coverage needs, OR you can pick specific agents from the directory. We recommend auto-match for your first time — you'll get 3-5 quotes within 1-2 business days.

Submit your request

Click 'Submit'. Agents are notified instantly. You'll start receiving quotes over the next 24-48 hours.

💡 Tip: First-time home buyer? No insurance docs needed. Agents can quote based on your address and household info alone.

Email notifications

Each time an agent submits a quote, you'll get an email from noreply@policyvera.com with the agent's name and a link to view it on PolicyVera.

SMS notifications (when configured)

If your phone number is on file, you'll also get a short text: 'PolicyVera: [agent] just sent you a quote. Review at policyvera.com/client'.

Step 5

🔍 Compare quotes

⏱ 10–30 minutes

Open the Quote Requests page

From your dashboard, click the request to see all submitted quotes side by side.

Check the details

Compare premium, deductible, liability limits, coverage type, and effective date. If the agent uploaded a quote PDF, click to view it. If they recorded a video message, watch it — agents who record videos tend to be more invested in your business.

Don't decide on price alone

The cheapest quote isn't always the best. Look at deductibles (lower = more out-of-pocket later), liability limits (higher = more protection), and whether the agent is local enough to help when something goes wrong.

💡 Tip: If you have questions, you can message the agent through PolicyVera before accepting.

Step 6

✅ Accept the quote you want

Click 'Accept'

On the quote you choose, click the Accept button. You'll be asked to confirm.

Grant contact permission

Once accepted, you're allowing the agent to call, text, or email you to finalize the policy. Other agents who quoted on this request are notified that the request is closed — you're not on the hook to explain.

Your agent reaches out

Within hours, the agent will contact you to confirm final details, walk through coverage, collect payment, and bind your policy with the carrier.

📄 Your policy gets bound and stored

Agent binds the policy with the carrier

The agent gets the binder, dec page, and any payment confirmation from the carrier.

Documents auto-load to YOUR dashboard

When the agent marks the policy as 'Bound' on PolicyVera, your new policy documents automatically appear in your Profile under 'Current Policy'. You don't have to ask the agent to send you anything — it's already there.

You get notified

Email + in-app notification: 'Your policy has been bound and is ready to view.' Click to see the docs immediately.

AI fills in the details

Within a few minutes, PolicyVera reads your policy document and pulls out carrier name, policy number, premium, coverage limits, effective dates, and key contacts. So you don't have to.

Tree falls on the house at 11pm? DMV asking for your auto card? Open PolicyVera on your phone — every doc is there.

Add other policies

Got auto with one carrier, home with another, life with a third? Add them all. PolicyVera doesn't care which company — your insurance lives in one place from now on.

Renew or shop again

When your policy is up for renewal, PolicyVera reminds you. If you want to shop, request quotes again — and agents will see your CURRENT policy details so they can compete on real numbers.

Forward to your lender (for home buyers)

Need to send proof of insurance to your mortgage lender for closing? Your agent can send the binder + dec page through PolicyVera directly — and you'll have a copy too.

Common questions

Is PolicyVera actually free for me?▾

Yes. PolicyVera is and will always be free for consumers. We're paid by the insurance agents who use our platform, never by the people they serve.

What if I don't have any insurance documents to upload?▾

That's totally fine — common for first-time home buyers, new drivers, or anyone just starting out. Agents can quote based on your address and household info alone. Once a policy is bound, your dec page will appear automatically.

Will agents see all my personal information?▾

Only what's needed to quote you accurately. Agents see your name, address, household, and (for auto) driver license info. They never see your password or your social security number. You can also choose which specific agents see your request.

Can I share my docs with a lender or mortgage broker?▾

Yes. When your agent binds a policy through PolicyVera, the binder + RCE worksheet can be sent directly to your lender through the platform — and you'll have a copy in your dashboard too.

What if I want to leave PolicyVera?▾

You can delete your account anytime — your data is removed from our systems. No fees, no penalties.

Does PolicyVera give insurance advice?▾

No. PolicyVera is a platform that connects you with licensed Idaho insurance agents. Your agent provides the advice and is the one licensed to sell you a policy. We just make the experience cleaner.
